The new BBS centre at the University of Birmingham provides purpose-built laboratory facilities for the study of perception, action and language. Research focuses both on understanding normal cognition and on how cognitive processes break down, and may best be rehabilitated, after brain insult (stroke, head injury and in degenerative diseases).

There are specialist facilities for the neuropsychological testing, for analysis of eye and limb movements, for activities of everyday action, for intelligent interfaces to action, and for computational modelling of cognition.

The centre will provide an important research base for brain rehabilitation research in the community, housing courses for therapists and industry
